As a line of work I now architect and design products using many across the board.  I&#039;ve worked on everything from Drupal and Joomla through Vignette and SDL Tridion.

I see your point about more support being available for open source products.  The danger I see however, is hiring a support company to rectify a problem that might be a result of customizations rather than hiring the company who&#039;s product it is.  There&#039;s much more at stake for a product company to service you appropriately (My company screws up and I lose potential reoccurring license costs for example).  Therefore I&#039;m much more comfortable leveraging non opensource companies to support their products.</description>
